Hi, I'm your independent candidate who believes Lyons deserves better. When elected, I will base all my decisions on community needs and interests, factual evidence and my conscience. I am not involved in party politics and have not been bought by large corporate business interests.
My name is Angela Offord. I live in the beautiful Northern Midlands within the largest Tasmanian electorate of Lyons. As a veterinarian for 33 years, I have worked hard to improve animal health and welfare while also working for the veterinary professional body for 20 years. So, I have learnt the value of good government, policy-making, and collaborative decision-making.
I am a mother and I love listening to different ideas! So get in touch and let me know what matters most to you.
Drop me a line!
As your elected representative my job will be to listen to you and take action on the issues that matter to our communities to deliver real reforms that most benefit healthy communities, animal health and welfare and our environment. As your representative, I promise to:
But I don’t just need your vote to make this happen – I need your help – volunteering on the ground, fund-raising and sharing your enthusiasm for voicing your community concerns. Please volunteer to assist, donate money if you can and subscribe to my social media and blog/newsletter.
Based on conversations with people right across the electorate of Lyons the number one issue affecting us all are cost of living pressures followed by systemic problems in our housing, health and education systems. There are environmental and animal health and welfare concerns and concerns about a lack of integrity in politics.
Access to quality health care should be available to all Tasmanians. This includes addressing accessibility to GPs, ED waiting times, bed block, Aged Care, Dental Health and Mental Health service provision.
There are solutions to the current cost-of-living and housing crisis, and I will support other members of parliament to design and implement these needed changes.
As a veterinarian, I am passionate about ensuring the health and well-being of animals. This involves advocating for policies that protect animal welfare while also supporting initiatives that promote responsible pet ownership and humane treatment.
Our natural environment is a treasure that must be protected.
I am dedicated to addressing climate change, increasing the resilience of our ecosystems, and fostering sustainable practices that benefit our communities and future generations.
I will uphold the principles of good governance, including accountability, transparency, and ethical decision-making in parliament. I will work to establish respectful dialogue, ensuring that the community’s interests remain at the forefront of legislative measures.
